The latest release on Alex Arnout’s Dogmatik imprint will be released tomorrow with a truly diverse compilations of some of the best people in the house scene at the moment in the form of ‘Various Artists EP 1’. Championed with playing a major part in Maya Jane Coles beginnings, the imprint has compiled a very tight collection of tunes stretching from the more mellow house vibes of Mark E, to the deeper and garage infused tunes of Dusky and Dimi Wilson, with Bubba and Stojche also featuring.
Mark E’s mellow house groove eases you in with ‘Horns of the West’. Percussive shakes float above the bass groove giving the tune a nice swing throughout whilst synths filter in creating a nice warm texture throughout.

The mellow feel of ‘Horns of the West’ builds nicely and leads well into the tight percussive and thumping kick of Dusky’s ‘Tyto Alto’. With a bass line more reminiscent of the deeper tones of house it is undoubtedly one of the stand out tracks on the EP. Merging deep house vibes with an old school garage feel through a soulful vocal sample and classic keys makes an instantly catchy tune.
‘Distance’ is Stojche’s contribution. Hit almost instantly with a sub bass hook, the layers get deeper as the tune unravels amidst flurries of percussive highs and a tight rhythmic section creating a real bounce which works well with the darker overtones of the track.

It has to be said that Bubba’s track ‘Keep L.O.V.E’ is within an instant the catchiest tune from the EP. Full of soul a fat bass lead weaves well amongst the kicks and snares before the lead kicks in with warm multi-tonal keys and a nice descending vocal sample. The various layers work together to create a pretty sick tune which is a major floor filler.
Bubba – Keep L.O.V.E (Preview) EP1 Dogmatik Records DD005 by B.U.B.B.A
A really nice bounce is created through Dimi Wilson’s deep house and garage infused floor filler ‘Oloo’. A ridiculously catchy vocal sample creates a nice hook which the tune works around, the pretty strong kick throughout creates a tune on the EP which is so tight. House keys jab throughout with various layers and cheeky keys creating a ridiculously tight groove.
