LESS Clothing was created in 2011 by graphic designer and fellow northerner Chris Bookless who now resides in East London and explains the inspiration behind his debut collection has been drawn from day-to-day life in London, and the counter club culture he seeks. Chris’ design is to create a unisex graphic cult brand using the ‘one-size tee’ as the platform for his graphics and unique style. LESS’ January 2012 debut collection is titled ‘cads’, which is a direct reference to the computer-aided design technology which allowed Chris to manifest his creativity and statement designs to produce his very first range of tee’s.

Quality and detail are of up most importance for LESS with its signature Leather trim and embossing which gives each tee its limited edition and hand crafted feel. There are two types of trim LESS adopt for their one-sized unisex tee; both are two types of leatherette material in two styles – slim and standard. For us the tee which best demonstrates the importance of quality for LESS is called ‘attention to detail’ a seemingly plain tee which when the sleeves are folded exposes the tee’s embroidered title. Cheeky.
Chris’ graphics are developed and work well on this t-shirt format; we are especially feeling the graphic type on the tee’s ‘basic’, and ‘deep’. Both tee’s show not only a keen understanding of fashion but also Chris’ talent in graphic design which he has coupled nicely to create something which is hopefully more than just a t-shirt. Peep the LESS lookbook to get a better idea of their product and brand philosophy. LESS clothing will be retailed locally at Leed’s streetwear store Dirty Girl upstairs in the Corn Exchange so head in store for a closer look at those Leather trims.
