Review: WNCL ‘Coming On Strong’/ Pangaea Rmx

15.05.12

One of the best releases of 2012 so far has landed from one of Inhabit’s favourite imprints and producers. Bob Bhamra aka West Norwood Cassette Library follows his ‘Collision/Detection v2’ EP (an interesting project from released via Front & Follow inviting artists to create a 4-track EP using audio submitted to a central pool by the wider group) with the beautiful ‘Coming On Strong’ marking the first release this year for his WNCL imprint. Rumah Interview + Inhabit Mix 017

11.05.12

Sean Hughes aka Rumah first crossed my radar a couple of months ago after hearing his guest mix on Dalston internet radio station NTS. Since then I have witnessed him sporadically uploaded new tracks to his Soundcloud, each bettering the last. His productions are usually built around a four-to-the-floor referencing techno and house, coloured with with dark textures from across the UK spectrum. [Read more →]

Lando Kal

Review: Lando Kal – Rhythm Sektion / Inquisition

12.04.12

After ‘Further/Time Out’ (HFT015) started appearing in the need-to-know radio shows of last year, it seemed like new boy Lando Kal was somewhat of a young prodigy. And although the name still feels fresh on the eve of his second Hotflush release, it couldn’t be further from the truth. Despite Lando Kal being the solo producer in question over this side of the water, hop across the pond and you’ll find the compelling backstory of his partnership with Low Limit as the West Coast glitch-hop duo Lazer Sword. Their FACT mix of last year was weighted just as evenly between Soulja Boy and Crookers, as it was with Terror Danjah and Fantastic Mr Fox, which may have hinted towards where their influences were coming from. Record Label Profle: Local Talk

12.04.12

Stockholm’s Local Talk label came to our attention a couple of months back after reviewing Wil Maddams latest release Cut and Cap. The collaboration by Mad Mats, a former break-dancing champion and founder of Sweden’s seminal home of electronic music Raw Fusion, and Tooli, whose highly acclaimed 24:hrs blog and parties made him a regular name on the Stockhlm nightlife circuit, was spawned out of their deep-rooted love for all things ‘house’. With releases from Andreas Saag, Fulbert and Deymare, we caught up with Mats and Tooli to ask them what all the fuss is about. [Read more →]
